31/10/11-2/11/11
We had a short but very nice stay here in the Windana Cottage. It is so a great place here!
We love the wonderful out looking to the Wilpena Pound. We visited the Flinders Ranges National Park
and this will be in very good Memories. We saw such a lot of animals, that we only knew from Books or TV!
In the evening we sat on a chair and looked for the sun goes down.

Thank you very much. Swen and Angelina from Germany.
P.S. Sorry my english is not so good J

Terry Naughton, Sydney, 23-29/10/11 (6 nights)
I fully endorse all the favourable comments of others in this book so far. I have read them all with interest, and agreement
What mainly comes through is the peaceful beauty of the place, with all that you need to be comfortable.
Here is my list of 10 "must dos":
1. Sit on the porch in the early morning and watch and listen to the busy and beautiful birds.
2. Watch the sun rise from outside the cottages, and watch it out on the West side at Camel's Hump Hill
(from the Quorn Road side of the property).
3. Watch the stars and planets, on a clear night, from in front of the cottages.
4. Drive up Jarvis Hill and do the loop trail walk and admire the views, and your own fortitude.
5. Walk up Police Hill to the scenic lookout and return.
6. Walk up to Castle Rock, along the track which begins at the Wilpena Road.
7. Walk up Camel's Hump Hill, along the track which begins on the Quorn Road, see the sun go down.
8. Drive to Quorn, and on to Wilmington, across the beautiful Wyoming-like plains.
9. Drive along the Moralana Scenic (dirt) road from the Leigh Creek Road to the Wilpena Road, and
vice versa. Admire the river gums, mountains and hills.
10. Have a caramel milkshake (specify "fill to the top") with double malt, at the Sightseer's Cafe in Elder Terrace
(150 metres before the pub), and
a Coopers  stout in the porch at night here, looking North to the mountain ranges, and East and West.

Don't forget to thank Pat and Keith for being such practical, sensible and friendly, but unobtrusive, hosts.
I already want to come back here.

Terry Naughton, Sydney, 29th October, 2011

P.S.  Above are in addition to the touristy attractions like Wilpena Pound (incl air flight over, and along the Heysen Range),
Old Wilpena Station, Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, Arkaroo Rock (incl Aboriginal art) (the round walk takes 1¾ hours),
the Parachilna Pub (incl the "FMG"- feral mixed grill of emu ,kangaroo and wild goat), the Parachilna Gorge, Blinman, the ghost
town of Hammond, the back road Quorn .. it goes on! All superb also. T.N.

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in our much needed holiday.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer accommodation. Cute & clean & comfortable,
with the most amazing views. We are so impressed and hope to come back here one day.
We even held one of the "laid back lizards".  Thank you very much
Chris, Jenni & Jed Potter. Adelaide.

12/10/11
We liked the remoteness of the cottages - the spectacular view, the peace. We managed the walk
for a meal, every evening, into Hawker, disturbing the cockatoos & parrots on the way back.
The moon was full, so it wasn't totally pitch-black. We were delighted that the cottage was so
clean and well equipped and we all slept really, really well.
We will tell our friends.
Patricia and Arthur Ellis, Leeds England. Robert & Colette, Adelaide.

9/10/11
Cottage is great - nice space & well equipped. Location and with what a view at sunset
and the birds are fantastic - ? hunting , honey eaters.
Thank you, we've had a great time in the Flinders.

We organised this accommodation late when everything else nearby was booked up.
We feel we have had the best & give Windana No1 cottage a 10/10 ranking.
We will certainly recommend it to friends.
Derek's full day Gorge tour also earned 10/10.
We hoped to see a brilliant night sky, but have had cloud and rain. It did not detract from the attractions of the region.
All in all a great 3 days. Thanks to all. Lindsay & Faye Quennell, Melbourne,
Jeremy & Margaret Harris, Adelaide

It has been great to be back in the flinders and especially at Windana, after a long absence. Good to
discover our aging knees will still carry us up to Jarvis Hill Lookout. (and down again!) to watch what
we think is one world's great joys - to see the shadow spread across the plain as the sun sets.
We have never seen the land so GREEN, making our excursions further afield seem like a new experience.
Lunch at the Parachilna Hotel is another treat we recommend.
